How many peeps in a car when on a two week driving Hol?
Off on a summer break in the next few weeks with 4 mates and myself, booked it last year but now it's getting close to going I'ts obvious from the others that they intend on only taking one car!
This is a two week driving holiday to Disneyland paris (1 week) and a week on the south/west coast of France. We are booked into basic accom which requires us to take duvets etc, others have called it camping as part of the hol is in a caravan (last week in the south)
Basically I want to gauge opinion on whether you think 5 of us can all get 2 weeks worth of clothes and bedding into a Cavalier hatchback with a top box on the roof (halfrauds type)..
P.s it's only £90 for a ferry ticket + fuel costs for a second car..

You can probably tell I'm not up for the one car Idea and asked for details to see how much I could get refunded IF I cancelled. Got told in no uncertain terms " what's this bull**** about cancelling"
I only asked for the details!
The reason I did this was because I've already broached the idea of a second car and it was fobbed off.
Don't really want to cause any more agro.
Thinking of cutting my losses.

That's definately a two car jobby. Otherwise youll be sat for hour after hour in a car thats too small for 5 blokes to travel in comfort. Unless your in the front that is.

I have actually done this several times myself in a Cavalier saloon. We were camping for a couple of nights at the Hungarian GP for the middle weekend so we needed to take a tent and sleeping bags.
I would say 3 people with all the luggage is more than enough, the boot was packed right to the rim and we had a few things in the car like a couple of bags of CD's and so on for the trip, you would be surprised how many CD's you get through just in the car on a 3000 mile road trip
I will admit that we didn't scrimp on the clothes, we didn't need to do any washing during the holiday. I was by far the best couple of holidays I've been on, we managed nine countries in the two weeks I think
I would love to do it again but all my friends have a GF/Wife so it's not possible as they want their seaside holiday

Two of the occupants will be women, neither I expect will drive on the continent. so plenty of leg strech time whilst they take a leak at every other rest stop. hehe and I can get the driving seat more often and push the seat back more... or is that being too evil. lol
I did offer to take the scoob but they fainted at the 16 mpg it does. oops

ok
4 people plus my record boxes (they take up the whole boot) in my bmw coupe feels cramped-especially an extra long journey.
Thats a bigger car than a cav too- so add more people+more luggage into a smaller car+ hot weather (hopefully) and its asking for a horrible journey.
Utterly ridiculous- take a second car.
is it you thats driving your own car?
Id be inclined to tell them sort a second car or they can all walk. i personally hate driving a fully loaded car, espeically with loadsa people who all think they know the right way.

Seems to not occur to them that not all of us might want to do the same thing together for the whole two weeks. I think two cars would allow us to go off and visit different things.
Those that have voted 2 people per car,
Does that mean we should make one person in a third car take all the luggage.

My car is a fuel guzzling scoob which no one wants to take... Understandably, and I'm fine with that.
The Cavalier is owned by one of the female members and she has stated already she only wants to drive in the Uk.
One of the other party has a suitable, reliable car we could use.. another Cavalier actually. lol

Come on guys and gals over 70 views and little voting taking place.
You don't have to reply but a vote for a reality check would be most helpful.
Cheers

you NEED absolutely NEED two cars.
Two convincing lines of argument
Duty Free
Duty Free
Okay that's one argument but such a biggie it needed mentioning twice.
For crying out loud are they dumb or what?
You cannot fit all the stuff you need in one car! Three people in the back seat? All that way? Stoopid.
If people argue about keeping in touch - go and buy a set of those short range walkie-talkies.... you can communicate between cars then.

Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

Seriously, I've only ever managed to get enough gear in my car(s) for 3 people's worth of kit for a weekend! (sleeping bags cloths etc).
Last time 4 of us went off for a supposed 2 week camping trip there was no way that 4 people's gear could fit - two car jobbie.
There's no way you can fit 5, unless you used to taking SAS survival kits and don't bother changing your underwear
Although I didn't have the luxury of a topbox
