Default what rights have u on auction sites?

hi need a bit of advice please-if you buy something on an online auction site do any of the directives etc and legal clauses(with referance to the office of fair trading website) etc regarding to traders that sell on an auction site apply if u buy of a private seller-with regards to things like the 7 day cooling of period etc or does that only apply if they are a business?have you any legal comeback with a private seller on there basically or is it a case of buyer beware

thanks

On ebay I believe that you can be sued if you bid for something but never buy it but I've never actually seen this happen.

Definately buyer beware!!!! Had an incident recently where we purchased some tools, never got the stuff, and PayPal/EBay only managed to reclaim 50% of the value

Kind of depnds what you mean by Auction sites too. I mean, some places advertise new goods on ebay. The whole distance selling, consumer rights stuff applies IMO. 'Course, they've got to be sited in the UK for anyone to do stuff-all about it.

Thats the reall bugger about eBay, the amount of people, usually traders who claim to be in the Uk, but actually are in the US or the far east, so when you apparently good deal arrives, you get stung for import duty.
