Speakers ON speakers??!!!

ANY sort of shelf to separate them would be a step forward. Homebase have a 10% off everything sale tonight, seriously!!
you have my deepest apologies ........

seriousley though, seems to be an improvement, and as a bonus, the old bag next door has just informed me she can now disconnect the 12V car battery from her hearing aid

that's a crap reason.

imo you would be better off with just one set - which ever sound better. unless some of the drivers are blown, of course.

ah - you may be right.

you forgot to mention that you were aiming for the authentic "hifi" sound as achieved by those ancient rastas who decend once a year on notting hill, with their huge piles of styrofoam "speakers" piled into the back of equally ancient ford cargo lorries, thus making an authentic jah rasta mount zion abba shanti dub mobile.

still, it's hardly a proper way to conduct yourself, is it?

£8 - mere pennies to someone with a 6K setup.

Default Speakers its a male thing

Quote:

2 sets?? small time I have a grand total of 11 speakers in my lounge and the missus hates them all, "they take up too much room"

2 set of missions on the Hi-Fi at the back end of the lounge, a pair Freedoms from the 80's, not to heavy on the sound very crisp, and a pair of M74's nice and meaty loads of bass, I find that these speakers compliment each other superbly and give a much better overal sound. The Freedoms nearly ended up in the loft I had to argue for a good 2 hours as to why they should stay!!, "we need the space" for what? a plant?, no chance .

The other 7 are hooked up to the Avi set up at the front of the longe

Then there was the day I plonked the Paradigm Centre speaker (its a bit of a big bugger) on top of the telly, she didn't notice it for a good 3 hours, we had friends round, all of a sudden we're in mid conversation and out of nowhere comes "What the F*ck is that!!" LOL

2 more sets in the loft, maybe I should introduce another set of front speakers to the Avi for the crack

I don't understand what advantage you are gaining by having 2 sets of HIFI speakers? If its because one set goes lower, they will crossover at some point and the bass will be messy at best? Or am I missing something? Why not do a test and get rid of one set,and hook up the sub to the low level pre-outs on your amp (so the sub will work with the amps volume control),turn the gain right down and see what happens.......................it should sound a lot better than 2 sets of speakers

edit-if you haven't got phono plugs on the sub you might be able to use the speaker terminals on the sub

Absolutely pissing myself at this - at the Watford Rainbow Festival last year (which, by the way, is every bit as awful as you might imagine), there was a hilariously-titled "reggae superstar soundoff". This consisted of the usual crowd of (black) guys from Harlesden pretending to be from Trinidad, and a very small number of (white) dogs-on-bits-of-string owners pretending to enjoy it. One memorable sight was a huge moose-like creature "dancing" to the din, though how you're supposed to dance to subsonic blast waves is a moot point.

It was truly ****, though it apparently got worse later when there was an MC contest .....

This misguided festival, which is a truly bizarre mixture of a funfair, some terrible reggae, a dance tent (even worse than the reggae), and some public information caravans (typical example: some poor sod from the Fire Service trying to tell us to fit smoke detectors), has only one saving grace - Desmond Dekker played there a couple of years back and was completely excellent, though he looked a bit embarrassed to be playing to 200 people on a sports field.

But you need at least 10.

I have...

Front left and right floorstanders, front centre, sub, rear surrond pair A (BiPoles) on side wall for AVi, rear surround pair B on back wall for mutlichannel sound and surround back pair suspended from the rear window.

For straight Stereo though nothing sounds better than a direct signal amplified to a decent pair of speakers.

Also have one bedroom converted into a hifi only room with a single reclining chair.

Cheers

Sweet

I'd love to have a bigger house with a dedicated sound and vision room, sound proofed, room for some more speakers then
