How much will I have to pay if import from the US?
I am looking at buying some dental chairs from the US as they seem loads cheaper than the UK.
The chairs will cost £6500 not including shipping. What do I have to add on to this for TAX etc.
TIA
Jer

Import duty is added on top of the total cost including shipping, and varies depending on what the item is. Customs & Excise should (in theory) be able to tell you what the rate is for the chairs - it's typically anything from 0 to 10%. Then there's 17.5% VAT on top of all that, plus the shipping agent may charge a customs clearance fee for paying the duty on your behalf (£5-£10 is usual).
