Radar-Guided Park Assist: Okay, if you drive a monster SUV, maybe it makes sense to have radar sensors built into the front and rear bumpers to help you park that big lug without hitting anything. But a family sedan or mid-size coupe? What started out as a toy on high-end luxury vehicles (Mercedes, BMW, Lexus) is filtering down to lower-priced models. But if you can't park a normal-size car without electronic assistance, should you really be driving at all?

The Belt Minder aint Ford's Idea - I remember the Renault Espace when it first came out (must have been 20 years ago) with some annoying French Tart saying "Your set belt is not fastened monsieur" (or something Like that).

That back-up alarm is a standard feature on some (all?) Japanese market cars, including the Impreza. Needless to say, my new JDM STI will be feeling the pinch from a pair of wire cutters within minutes of arriving back in my garage. What next, a 'get out of the way' alarm for the forward gears as well?
In fact it never ceases to amaze me how many unnecessary 'ping' and 'bong' noises US cars make anyway. Try driving a hire car in the States without it whingeing about something - you have to close the doors, fasten your belt, insert the key, start the engine and release the brakes in exactly the expected order or you get beeped at. AAARRRGHH!
