Dalkeith - nr Edinburgh - places to stay ?
maybe coming up from yorkshire in next few days to look at a car.
anyone recomend small B&b type place to stay for me and missus - ie. pub/inn, cottagy b&b
prefer rural - out of town

Oh, and how far are you prepared to stay from Dalkeith.
Without offending Dalkeith residents (!), it's not the best place to use as a base. If you're prepared to be about 20 miles from Dalkeith, you could either base yourselves in the Scottish Borders in somewhere like Peebles, or choose somewhere in East Lothian such as North Berwick (has 20 minute journey train service direct into middle of Edinburgh city centre should you & the missus want to see Edinburgh).
North Berwick is a nice coastal town, with plenty to see & do.

Not stayed here so can't couch for it, but nice enough hotel in Aberlady....Aberlady is a lovely coastal village.
