Question F1 Pit Radio Frequencies

Does anyone know the frequencies that the F1 teams use for their radios? Can a normal scanner listen in or are they encrypted?

I don't know anything about this.
But I would expect they would be encripted otherwise all the teams could listen to their pit plans!

I've just joined an F1 scanning group so am waiting to find out once my membership has been processed, judging by this site there are some freqs to listen to http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/f1scanner/

I have been told in the past by a friend who works for a world rally team that the F1 freqs were all digitally encrypted and that I wouldn't be able to listen to them, however we shall see.

Might be able to pick up the toilet cleaners or something

They used to be scannable- i heard a recording once of nigel mansell on the radio as he crashed at suzuka 88-
But they changed it in the early 90s as F1 got ever more commercial and technical- not a hope nowadays.

Hmmm, seems like they're not all encrypted, got my membership approved for the F1 scanner group and have been having a look at their site. So, join the scanner group I posted a link for above and you will be able to hear stuff from the teams!
