Keep your eyes peeled when crossing the road!

I'm pretty sure this is somewhere in N.America and I'm not in the least bit surprised this guy was hit - although he didn't really have much chance of getting out of the way.
People here seem to be arrogant in their assumption that because they have right of way, they can walk across the road without even looking. I have seen several people almost hit by cars jumping red lights (which is endemic here).
This is also much more likely to happen here because pedestrians and cars will be on the road at the same time. When the traffic gets a green, the pedestrians facing the green light can cross, unlike the UK where it's normally cars or pedestrians, not both.

It seems like he survived - when the PT Cruiser hit the Forester it made a big dent, and when the Forester rolled over the guy he was in the dent.

Most of the pedestrians around here walk across the road without looking and with their backs to the traffic! If you have to slam on the brakes they consider that it was all your fault too.
