Things to do in Northampton
My wife & my 3 yr old daughter are joining me for a couple of days at the Japanese Auto Extravaganza this year but fearing that they might get a bit bored after a few hours I wondered if anyone could recommend things for them to do local to Billing Aquadrome. We'll be bringing 2 cars so a few miles away wont be a problem.
Animal Park Farms, water parks or anything suitable for a 3yr old would be great.
Thanks in advance.

IIRC Billing Aquadrome itself has a full size fun fair catering for all ages. There are 2 pubs within easy reach, both have play areas to cater for your daughter.
If that's not enough if you head down the A45 toward Wellingborough there's a Beefeater type pub with a Wacky Warehouse attached to it.
The family could always go to Grendon (half way along the same A45) which, IIRC does watersports.
Will this do for now?

Billing Aquadrome is a complete **** pit!
People in Northampton joke about it - it's where people who live in deprived area's go on holiday...and its next to a permanent pikey camp and sewer, and it stinks of ****!
You have Althorpe house (princess di), Holdenby House (falconry displays).
Wickstead park - great theme park for kids!
Skiing at Milton Keynes, there is a farm, I just can't for the life of me remember the name.

Mrs Wrxsmo here.
This looks like the perfect place to take my daughter and nephew.
We can leave the lads talking cars all day and the ladies keep the
kids happy by going to the park.
Thanks for you help guys, Much appreciated.

There are some who would apply that statement to the whole of Northampton, a view which any sane person would disagree with.
WRX, hope you can make up your own mind on that one.

I used to work in the arcades at Billing Aquadrome (aka the acky) when i was 14-16 and it used to be alright but has gone way downhill in the last few years.
This is due to a few reasons, not least the sad death of the owner and the change in business/arcade and caravan ownership also.
It is now infested with the local pikeys, and chavs who roam the arcades and fun fair looking for people to rob and harrass. I'm sorry to say that after visiting a couple of months ago for old times sake that it is indeed a **** pit now.

Things to do in Northampton
Full of speed traps, scamera vans, town centre is filthy.
Billing aquadome is the only place in the uk where you can see the resultant offspring of chavs and pikeys.
There are plenty of nicer places outside of the town

Northampton is alright, got bad parts like any town but has got great bars, good clubs, good leisure facilities, good rugby team (dont mention the football, cough), the uk's best motorsport venues on the doorstep. It could do with better shops though but i guess Milton keynes is there for that.

Things to do in Northampton ................... get a speeding ticket is pretty popular

Dont speed then if you know theres cameras everywhere
I know I shouldn't drive too close to the car in front, etc, but it turns a nice safe dual carriageway into a nervous game of dodgems.

I think Northampton is alright too.
Better than Kettering (that apparently has lots of wealthy people living there according to Barclays) and dare I say Corby.
You can never completely escape the chavs.

Living on the outskirts of Northampton and never going "East" or in the town centre I find it a rather nice place to live..........when I am not getting robbed!
There is no towns I would rather live within 50 miles of Northampton.

As a newly single lad, I gotta say I think Northampton is a good place to live!
Central for most things motorsport, roads are not to badly congested for a blast in the evening, people are generally friendlier than that crabby place Milton Keynes........and its great for pulling, the town centre is heaving on a Fri and Sat......P'haps drop the lady off in the evening at wicksteed?! Joking...!
regarding the camera vans, Yes, total pain, the buggers are even out at 9pm on a Saturday night on occasion...
I moved up in 2000, in 3 months id got my first ever 3 points.......which is why id recommend sum stealthy number plates.......
AND I bet you have a good time at the aquadrome too, let us know!

I'm not too sure why Northampton has such a bad name. Every place has rough pockets and Northampton and rest of the county is no different but it has got a wide range of places to work and some good social venues.
As a single lad I enjoyed Northampton town on a weekend (Chicago's, Time & Envy, etc) and now I'm settling down at the ripe old age of 24 it has still has places enough places to go at the weekend with my lady.
If there really is somewhere in this country that is better than Northampton in a number of aspects but has house prices in a similar range I'd be interested to know.

Brybusa, you have lived up here just a little longer than me.
More of us as sticking up for the place, so it really is an ok here.
Shame the place is growing at an alarming rate though. I like going for a drive through the countryside, how much longer will that last.
The balloon festival will probably stop in a few years, as there will be no fields left to land in.
I just realised the balloons are another thing attracting people here (in Aug).
