Cool Oops!

In todays Sun. Ian Wright smashed his £120k Ferrari. I love his excuse for trashing, especially as he was in a 30 zone. Read for yourself..... Crash!

1. Apparently he blamed the traction control system. Which he apparently turned off. If it was off, how can he blame it? I'm confused...

2. Question for our insurance experts. If the car has no valid road tax, does that invalidate the insurance?

firstly it never quoted him blaming it, just said that he turned it off and was taking a risk basically... never said I blame the TC

secondly, its probably out of date car tax as he's been away in portugal and only just got back (not that that's an excuse) but its an explanation. and even a ferrari sounds awsome driving at 30mph so it doesnt mean he was racing down the street as the neighbours thought...

yes but if he did that much damage to a car by driving at 30mph then he is too dangerous to be driving a powerful car

true but that much damage is probably cause the car is made of fibreglass, a 5mph shunt in a ferrari would cause a fair bit of damage IMO

Basically, if what he says is true, then the reason he crashed was because he applied far too much power, broke traction and crashed. What suprabeast said, therefore is correct as this is evidence that, although he has the money to own one, he doesn't have the skill to drive one!

You can't have overpaid ponces driving powerful cars (as a fashion accessory/status symbol) around , even at 30 mph, if they are liable to lose control of the vehicle. Next time someone could be killed.

Give the man a nissan micra, sod his "street cred"!

"Last night Wright, 40, blamed the supercar’s traction control system."

As I said - apparently, he blamed the traction control system.

Wassup, you go to the same opticians as him?

That's the problem with a lot of modern cars and drivers. Basically they let the car do all the work. This breeds drivers that can't drive (performance or otherwise) cars properly when they reach the limits (or turn off the TC). Basically, leave it on unless you know what you are doing.

Don't think he was speeding, probably just floored it in first (those fezzas do sound loud at 30mph in 1st) coming out of a corner probably and I guess it probably just spun and hit whatever it hit.

I manage to keep my rwd sports car with over 300bhp/tonne on the road safely as I learnt how to drive the car properly and don't have TC etc. to nanny me along.

As the article said, turn the TC off and you're dancing with the devil. Unless of course you can drive properly!
