Yep, us three....Peter, Harrison and me.
Getting really excited (Peter just called me 'sad')
Steve, any chance of coming up to the office for a better look.....pleeeeeeeeeaaase.

You're more than welcome Joan but I work in the middle of Soho now, the Regent Street office would have been fantastic though, 4th floor and all
I've just taken a walk from Piccadilly Circus up to Oxford Circus, the road sidings are all up and there are police and hired security all over the place. You can buy glossy programmes for 4 quid at the Standard stalls, which I just did.
Anyone want to meet up?

Oxford Circus, Picadilly Circus (I'd avoid those two like the plague personally), from my desk I can hear helicopters hovering overhead. Haven't been down there since 1pm, leaving here in an hour.

Well, we got to Oxford Circus at 4.30pm and went down Argyle Street where the police were stopping us going any further.....so we went round the back roads and they were all closed off and we were directed to a big screen, which we watched for an hour and half then the racing started....was really good to watch but then I realised we had to get on the tube BEFORE the crowds stated to disperse....we went to Tottenham Court Road tube only to be told the Piccadilly Line was closed due to a fire alert.....so we ran up to Goodge Street and got to Liverpool Street(via the central line).....we finally got home here at 9.15....
Not sure if I`d want to do it again next year though.....bit of a rush for a weekday evening, and the crowds, I can easily say it was far worse than going to Chinese New Year back in February.
Still, was an experience and it was good what we HEARD of it.
Joan.

I couldn't see much (was seven rows back, just outside Lillywhites). The first and second floor windows were the optimum viewing places. Although some nutters further down Regent Street were sitting on scaffolding, and there were so many of them it was collapsing! And some other nutters were sitting on the roof of a building (6-7 stories high) with their legs dangling over the edge!
OTOH, I did get to give some support to a lovely young lady by holding her round the bum while she stood on top of a dustbin. So it wasn't a wasted trip...

Oh Dear, got home at 9.15, i'd be very suprised if someone didn't get hurt. Yes the cars/sound was spectacular, but my god are people desperate or what. There were idiots climbing up scaffolding/bus stops. God knows how they do this for a real race.

I didn't get out the office until 5.45 Joan, by the time I'd got to Lillywhites I was stuck in a load of people about 30 feet back, couldn't see a thing so I went home.
Or I tried, Oxford Circus and TCR tubes had already closed when I got there at 6.30pm because of overcrowding, which happens to Oxford Circus almost daily anyway. There wasn't even enough space on the pavement for all the people, from Oxford Circus to New Oxford Street. It's laughable to think you could host an F1 event in London.

Carl - we were outside Lillywhites too - at the front though
Agree with Charlie_Boy - we saw some daft stuff - people climbing up the outside of buildings, hanging off signs and lamp posts etc. The most dangerous thing was the scaffolding. I'm no scaffolding expert, but I guess I'm right in thinking it wasn't designed to support the weight of 70+ people - that was very scary. It could have been a disaster if it had collapsed.

We were right outside lilywhites too- right up against the barriers! at this point the cars were real close to the crowd!
well worth the hassle but i dont kno if it was worth riskin ur life for- others will bak me up on this there were loads of ppl clamberin all over lilywhites/telehphone boxes/traffic lights.
awesome noise although i hav to say i thought the safety car was doin more speed then the F1 cars!

What load of old crap!
can't believe that many people got excited by a few F1 cars doing wheel spins!
Typical Londoners I guess!
You know it is possible to leave London, drive 60 miles up the road and see cars on a track for free!

A London Grand Prix would be cool - hopefully they'll have learned from yesterday and will be able to implement better crowd control, although if they needed the full width of the roads for racing, i don't think London lends itself to spectating very well at all - where would all the people sit?
