Default Think they got me-motorway speed camera-M62

Im panicking a bit now, on the m62 between liverpool and manchester(warrington) today at teatime,

the speedo in my car (95 wrx type RA)i know is about 10-15mph "out" and i think iwas doing about 100+-i know it was a bit silly but i think i got a bit carried away, i had a boyracer up my **** flashing his lights, so i just pulled away from him and saw the police on the bridge with the camera at the very last minute, tried slowing but i think it was too late,

so just waiting for the letter through the door, if its over 100 i know its a ban but for how long? i work offshore so the ban will only be half the time as i work one month on one month off and dont drive for the month im away,

could i go on one of the new driver awareness courses to shorten ban etc?

already got 6points so ive no one else to blame, but just a bit anxious as to whats going to happen,
anybody got any recent examples of similar circumstances?

cheers,-a very disheartened Andy

Sorry Andy - can't really offer too much help at the moment. You are going to have to sweat it out until the NIP does (or doesn't) arrive. If it is 100+ then I would guess you'll get a summons straight away.

Driver awareness courses are only offered by a few forces and they are discretionary in many cases. Also they seem to be for minor offences (which seems a bit daft as you could argue that the more serious cases are more in need of the extra training).

Points and ban? Who knows - it is up to the court. It seems to vary considerably.

You are just going to have wait and see at this stage

Hmm, they do seem to setup on that bridge most weekends now around tea time

Do you know if it was speed, or wether it was ANPR for checking Tax ?

I hope it was the ANPR mate! it was facing the slow lane, so i dont know if i was in his view,
just hoping he had slow reactions and i braked quick enough!

I thought they would come onto the motorway and stop you.

Hopefully they where too busy eating doughnuts to notice you.

Good luck.

Hi Andy,

I passed them too, also coincidentally in my 95wrx type RA lol, saw them from quite away but I was doing 79 I think, but anyway I reckon it was ANPR mate, I'm pretty sure they have to have the speed camera sign visible for speed checks & there wasn't one that I could see.

I have a usually good detector too & it didn't make a sound. So don't worry too much, you might have got away with that.

PS did you see the way the sneeky g1ts hid the van behind the bushes. I wouldn't pee on 'em if they were on fire...

Mate, I'm pretty sure ( 99% ) that the van is the CCTV van, the one which looks for untaxed and stolen vehicles.

I seen it at the bridge towards Liverpool ( at Burtonwood ) at 0130.

I think and hope you'll be ok!

The speedo on my My94 STi is 6 MPH fast according to the Snooper GPS and I think the GPS is pretty accurate comparing it with one of those radar signs that flashes your speed at you. So you might be lucky and got seen at less than 100.

Pretty sure they're on some sort of blitz round Manchester at the moment.

Posted this last week and have seen several more tripod mounted devices since then.

Thought maybe it was just me as no one replied, but maybe not.

I've seen a mixture of ANPR and speed cameras so I'm afraid this is of little comfort.

Anyway it's fair enough as all other crime in Manchester has all but disappeared so they really should be concentrating on the motorist

Regards,

tiggers.

I saw two male coppers on that bridge, with a camera, at about that time.

They were taking photos of each other, one had high heels, fishnet stockings, and suspender belts on, and the other was wearing some rubber type underpants, with chains on the front. I didnt give them a second glance, its normal behavour from Cheshire Traffic.

So I wouldnt worry too much if I was you.
