Double Density 3 1/2" floppy discs
My dad has an old Smith Corona electronic typewriter which uses Double Density discs. Does anyone know if it's possible to still get hold of them and if so, where.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Or get an HD and tape the little slit over at the top edge opposite the lock slide.
Used to cut slots in the ol DD and use them as HD's never had a major problems

Thanks OllyK
Managed to try it out today - the taping over the slit on the HD discs and it worked! Can't work out why it does though!
Thanks again.

Because there really isn't a fat lot of difference between DD and HD. In theory the HD are better quality so they can take having more data on them, and so the little slot to allow the "device" to tell the difference. But in reality DD's are / were pretty much the same quality anyway. As I said, never had a problem. Glad it worked for you anyway
