Default Is Manchester having a new speed camera campaign?

Over the last few weeks I have noticed a lot more mobile speed traps on the M60 round Manchester during the day.

Up until a few weeks ago you would see a mobile unit every once in a while on one of the bridges. In the last couple of weeks I've seen at least one a day and today yielded 2 within 5 miles. Is Manchester having some sort of blitz on the motorways or have i just had my eyes shut for the last few years?

The units are white vans striped up with a tripod mounted not in the van, but next to it on the bridge. They appear to be operated by one police officer and I'm not sure whether they are targetting cars coming towards them or going away from them. One of the ones I saw this morning appeared to be pointed at oncoming traffic, but was positioned over the hard shoulder of the opposing carriageway. Any ideas?

Anyway just thought I'd warn you guys who travel around the M60 a lot.

Regards,

tiggers.
