Default Wills - advice please

Myself and the missus made wills last year, it was done pretty quickly for various reasons ...

Since then we've had our first child and want to change - in fact - draw up completely new, more detailed wills. Question is this: can I ring the solicitors with whom we made the original wills and arrnage to cancel them in writing and make entirely new ones ?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers
Phil

you can just make a new one - the previous one is no longer your last will and testament, but it is probably useful to let them know that it is no longer required. They may be able to make amendments to the old one cheaper than starting from scratch though

You don't necessarily need a solicitor to make a will if the details are straightforward (e.g. house to kid, 5k to Aunt Maud and the rest to Scoobynet members for a giant p!ssup You could use the old one as a template and just change the details. You can also buy a "Will kit" at WHS which explains what's required and provides a sheet you can fill in. What is important though is that that you get it independently witnessed and leave it somewhere where it can be easily found.

If details are more complex, or you just want peace of mind, get a solicitor involved.

Is that including the legal fees to sort out the mess after you pop your clogs?

maybe its a scam between WHsmiths and the legal profession?

"we'll sell a sheet of A4 that ppl can screw up their estates with then you dive in and rip them off to sort it"

I went to a solicitor to make a will just to leave my entire estate to my wife and he wanted £75 to do it!

They don't sell themselves short do they?
