Some bint emailed me by mistake the other day, inviting me to a barbeque.

i didn't know who she was and thought it some kinda american dating bollox, anyway, then ib reread the mail and it mentioned the bank holday.

so basically i mailed her back saying thanks for the invite but i dont know who you are.

then she confessed to a typo on the mail address (hotmail) and a couple of mails went to a fro between us, until tonight, when she collared me on MSN!!

basically we had a good "type" and it seems we have loads in common,
swapped pics etc, however it felt really seedy hiding behind a monitor trying (and suceeding) to chat some bird up.

anyway my question is this:
Has anyone ever met someone in this way, and if so how did it progress??

she lives about 300 miles away btw..

i "met" someone via an internet NG one time - there was a sh*tload of correspondence over the course of about 18 months, but we never actuall met. she lived in australia, which didn't help. another time i did end up meeting someone i had come across on the internet. i saw her twice but it didn't end up going anywhere.

My advise, would be ask them on a level of 1 to 10 how insane they are, then if you get a low score ask for picture of their kids/ ex husband/ boyfriend, if these are not forthcoming, dip your toe.....

I once met a bird in the states San Jose (edited:getting my places mixed up) to be exact and I went over there for a month as I was a feckin rich student, having done it work in the summer (ahh, them where the days. I digress Anyhow things were fine for a few days but slowly it all went to **** and we ended up kind of mutually dumping each other at the airport.

The flight back was a loooong one. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they dont. One thing for sure though, it was a lotta fun, did a lot of stuff, saw a lot of places and I dont regret it for a minute.

Just bear in mind that the several LDRs Ive had with people from the internet, the expectation and the reality are not always the same. This is were people hit problems !
