Seen ours do this a few times. Eats it all in front of me (obviously if it's still alive, I rescue it!). It certainly crunches like a packet of monster munch!!!
There was once where he regurgitated it again, but was just a pile of bones and sinew by that point......had to clear that up.

mine used to eat them whole
The only reason I know that, is that it came out the other side, still whole, was quite shocking !!
She also eats rabbits from time to time too

A cat we used to have used to bring numerous dead rats home and lay them out by the back door. Luverly!
He also used to bring rabbits into the house and eat only the front or back half. Yeuch!

Cats will generally only eat the head if they are not hungry - they go for the brains, which is apparently the most nutritious. If they are hungry, they'll eat the lot.
When my 4 were living in my parents' house, with 6 acres of fields, they nearly decimated the wild rabbit population. We had to do "bunny bit patrol" before mowing the lawn, otherwise the mower would spit bits of rabbit and mouse into the grass sacks at the back and make it really messy in the blades. Yick.
They also used to catch rabbits and save them "for later" by lining the carcasses up in the bottom of the pit in the workshops.

We've got a cat that brings back small rabbits. I say small, they're half her size !!!
Funniest one was when I opened the back door to see half a rabbit on the door mat. Thing is, it was the back end and so looked like it had dived into the mat
Er, didn't last long once the dog saw it though

Yeah I am getting these 'pressies' daily from my cat. Is worse when a poor mouse is still half alive, then it's bloody mayhem, as the dog then chases the cat to get the 'squeaky toy' and I end up chasing both of them

Our last house had an orchard at the bottom of the garden with all sorts of wildlife, including more squirrels than you could imagine. Our little treasure treated herself to one a week(ish), until when we left there were none to be seen We have some school fields & a river valley at the back of us now, during the summer the only time we see her is when it's raining or she fancies some biscuits

We were pleased to find a headless squirrel one time, lovingly laid out on the bottom of the stairs by the (we thought) cute little kitty-cats we had at the time.
It's especially nice when you walk downstairs all bleary-eyed and barefooted, and first discover it with your toes rather than your eyes!

She's bloody quick too. Being very small she's incredibly agile and can catch almost anything that moves. She was stock piling dead birds in my strawberry patch last week!

Our driveway is usually like a warzone in the summer, due to living opposite a few fields.
Once found a mouse that looked like a cartoon fish - it was just a head and an **** connected by a spine...

LOL, once the wife picked up a dead mouse in the back garden that the cat had killed, only for the insides of the mouse to fall out all over the patio leaving her holding only the skin.
MMMmmmmmmm, lunchtime anyone?
Simon.

there was an article in the paper that went to show that domestic cats, are the biggest killers with an alarming kill ratio.
They would be the equivalant of serial killers in the human world....
what makes me laugh is when our beast starts chittering at the birds on the roof...
"id better explain"
beast starts to make funny noises like little mewling nises but sounds little itch itch sounds
the hedge round the garden seems to be her lair... the pidgeon coop opposite has been left alone!!!!
prehaps its the jack russell thats there too!!
Mart
and the funny smells were the sparrow hidden behind the u bend!!!
mart!!

At least yours are bringing pressies, my cat's too thick to catch anything.
He was playing with a mouse once in the garden, but we believe it was dead before he got to it so doesn't count!

My cat used to decapitate the mice and then spew the seperate bits up all over the patio. As soon as i'd try and pick the bits up with a shovel all the inards and brains would fall out of the skin onto the shovel. Was grim to say the least.
That info mice explains why my cat did it though, I thought he decapitated them just cos he was a sick git

Apparently this "present" theory is a load of rubbish. It's just bringing it to somewhere it knows is a safe environment generally free of other predators.
Our is another 'bird caller' too Her attempts sound nothing like a bird but she still tries to talk to them

In my experience, it's always the little cats that are the killers. We have a little Burmese thing, and it kills more than it should !!! Yet we have a big, fluffy ginger moggy (weighs about a stone !) and it's never caught a thing.
It did have a mouse in the back garden once though, just played with it
