Default Help needed with weeds!!

Hi all, can anyone tell me what kind of weeds these things are as they have invaded my garden and new lawn like a plague, they are hairy and about 12-18 inches tall with tiny blue flowers, I have tried to dig them out but they have roots as long as a chav's credit card statement

thanks

I have done a google and found nothing but a name may help, im sure there is a keen gardener that will know

Andy - for the lawn there is no better treatment than "Green Thumb"!

I'd tried almost everything in B&Q on the lawn an given up

Green Thumb costs about £15 a go and a bloke from the local franchise comes over and drops some magic berries on your lawn, and hey presto, a few weeks later no weeds just thick, beautiful acres (well metres) of luscious green grass

Our lawn used to be 99% weeds and 1% grass, now its 100% grass

Nowt to do with Green Thumb, just a very happy customer.

I dont have the link for their website, but I'm sure someone will post it up.

I had that stuff at my last house, and I know what you mean about the roots. They seem to have one thick main root/stem that snaps off when you try and pull it out. Not sure what it is called, but it yields to a good dose of paraquat. Make sure you cover all the leaves because it seems to be a fairly hardy little bugger.

http://www.greenthumb.co.uk/index.asp is the web site.

My folks had their lawns done about three or four weeks ago and the magic stuff they stick on has already made quite an impact on the weeds.

I've just signed up - for me it's £13 per visit, four visits per year.

If you have a local franchisee, they'll do you a no-obligation survey and report. The bloke who does round here seems to know his stuff.

I]A weed is just a flower in the wrong place.[/I]

It looks like a cross between a "forget me not" and bindweed, in which case I'd suggest removing it by hand ensuring that you also get the roots as well otherwise it will be back before you know it.
