The UK government are having a laugh - 80p a litre (as reported on Sky)...that's highway robbery ! I presume that's for normal (95) unleaded.
In Geneva we're paying 65p for *98* RON and that's the highest I can remember it being.
Fuel protest anyone?

Agreed I only just noticed the other day how much the sneaky fvckers have let it creep up in the last few months. A penny hear and there and we've hardly noticed the MASSIVE increase

In manchester ........May 2004 optimax=83.9p p/l
45p A GALLON more in just over a year!!!!!!!!!.......amazing how pricing in litres makes the ordinary joe no-nowt think the price increases of a penny here and a penny there arent that bad.
£5.00 more for me to fill my car compared to last year and that cheeky little fu**er from the goverment says petrol prices arent that bad/high enough!!!!!!!.........What a crock of snit

And another thing....reading that sky report makes you laugh when they put comments in like..."It could soon cost more to fill your tank" as if the prices havent been going up already!!!!!!......it was 78.9 only 2 months ago, went to 79.9.....then 3 days later 81.9...then low and behold 4 days later going in for another tank full it was 83.9!!!!!!!
The press seem incrediable slow reacting to anything like this and usually only mention it when the price has already been moved up 3 times. And the sneaky little rises 2 weeks before a budget seldom get any column inches either .

It was low $30's/barrel just a few months ago, so that's a 20-25% rise in the raw product in a few months.
Yet, the price of petrol at the pumps has gone up less in percentage terms in the last few months. You should be relieved!!

b. stop using your car and get a bicycle
c. accept that that's what it costs to run a car
i used to complain A LOT about petrol prices here.. particularly as im originally from the US, so was used a MUCH cheaper fuel prices. but you have to learn to live with it if you want to run a car... and it is ALWAYS a choice.

EVERYONE could reduce the number of car journeys they did if they just stood back and thought about it for a moment.
Bunch of lazy selfish b'stards

Point A would result in me losing thousands on a car id have to sell which is only 6 months old.
Point B is not an option due to having no fixed place of work and having a tool kit to carry round(journeying 102 mile per day at moment) .....nice assumption on your part that we all have a fixed place of work 5 miles from our house btw
Point C Is a strange comment to make....do you usually shrug your shoulders when being charged more than what you think is fair?
Your attitude seems to consist of put up or shut up,combined with some glib remarks about using other forms of transport when you no nothing of my situation. It is not practical for me to use public transport or a cycle....i could buy a cheaper to run car, however at the time i bought my car petrol was 76.9,now it is 83.9......i do not forsee future events which is why i am commenting on the fact that petrol is rising at a very unfair rate.

Oh dear.
I assume you'd also prefer it that your house didn't rise in value, nor your savings rates didn't increase? Oh, and I assume you NEVER want a pay rise either?

The school runs, the short trips to the supermarket to pick up something you forgot (pint of milk), the tiny journeys for the Sunday papers etc etc.
All insignificant, but they all add up.
I see people driving from one end of the street to the other so it will be closer for them to walk to the newsagent.
I see people touring around car-parks for AGES looking for the NEAREST space to the store to avoid a walk, yet if they'd parked a bit further out from the store, they'd have got there quicker anyway.
I see people driving to the end of their street so as to be nearer the bus-stop. Park & Ride it maybe, but 1/3 mile?
You have two legs, use them sometime.

Pointless argument.Your being delibrately confrontational and giving devils advocate style replys to everything. It is so very easy to be smart and give answer to the tune of ....well dont do it then.......do this instead.......completely change your lifestyle......your selfish to think any pricing system is unfair etc.
Example........If you dont like me moaning about petrol the answers simple...
A)Dont read it
B)Stop replying
C)Live with it
See...easy innit
House prices are only relevent when your selling......the fact that they have gone up doesnt mean squat until you sell up.(cue...well why dont you sell it!! )

I'm not being smart, nor devils advocate. You were moaning about the cost of petrol and how it was "unfair". Well, that's market forces. That's how it is. The goverment is not to blame for it this time around. It's world futures markets and OPEC.
If you feel you can't afford it, you know what to do.

For example, if beer went up to £5/pint yet wine was £2/bottle, would you :
a) drink less beer, adapt your lifestyle to suit, and buy the alternative (wine).
b) Continue to guzzle beer even although you couldn't really justify it.
