What's the best way to get my phone reconnected?
Hi
Here's the deal,
I bought my house off my brother, when he moved out he unplugged his phone, he also took the phone number to his new house. To the best of our knowledge nothing was done to the line in the house. In the 7 months I've lived there I've never done anything with the line, mainly cos I couldn't afford it plus I wouldn't get much use out of it, seemingly the line is now not active according to BT. My circumstances have now changed and I want to have a line put back in, so what's the best way to do this?
In summary then, the line is inactive but in theory still all there, there is no number allocated to the house and I want it all putting right! I'm happy to use companies other than BT.
Thanks!
PS I might not be able to get back and check the thread much, I only have access at work now....what I could do with is access from home too.....

Bob,
BT should only charge you a nominal fee if the line is already there, possibly even free but you'll have to pay your quarterly line rental in advance. If there is no cable there then you will *have* to use BT. All other low cost providers use BT lines anyway.
cheers
