Have to say out of the movies given Aliens is by far the best sequel if not one of the top 3 ever.
Amazing effects, detailed sets, vehicles, equipment. Well thought out script and within context of Sci-Fi aliens believable characters.
Just truly awesome marred by somewhat dodgy follow ons. Only hope that Aliens Vs Predator doesn't end in a pile of carp.

cos t1 wasnt that good
My vote says Empire Strikes Back, you knew it was going to be good after star wars, but those AT-ST's blew my socks off - well I was 9 at the time. And then the next film blew em' off again, the cuddly ewoks were a bit naff, but it was compensated for by these:
BTW, you forgot to put On Her Majesty's Secret Service in the poll

A close one between T2 and Aliens but Aliens edges it. I have the 4 film box set. Aliens Special Edition has some excellent extra footage.
No huge actors but Biehn and Paxton work so well together - "Im Hudson, he's Hicks".
Gorman "Any Questions?"
Hudson "Yeah, how do I get out of this chicken sh*t outfit?"
Apone "Hudson, you secure that sh*t"
Ah thats done it - gonna have to go watch it now.
Is it just me or did the copy the sound of the pulse rifle really well in AVP2 the computer game? Quality game that scared the **** outta me.
Simon.

Oh and Ive always wanted Universal to do an Aliens Ride. Can you imagine them doing a ride based on the Sulako's drop ship? "An express elevator to hell, going down!"
Yeah!

This place really is a cultural desert isn't it?
Aliens and T2 are great action movies that are not a patch on their originals - they are simply great action movies, nothing mor and nothing less although T2 did move special effects to a new level that IMHO is still where we're at now.
The Empire Strikes Back is the best of the Star Wars films and does at least bring some credibility to the initial trilogy sandwiched between the Saturday matinee style of A New Hope and the ludicrous teddy bear fest that is Return of the Jedi, but although it is well made it is not that brilliantly acted and relies on the scope granted by the science fiction environment to keep the audience entertained.
The Godfather 2, however, is a masterpiece of movie making. At least as good as the first film it brilliantly weaves together the tale of the young Vito Corleone with that of Michael Corleone's initial years as head of the family. A perfect script, top perfromances from Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro (as the young Vito) and the rest of the assembled cast along with one of Hollywood's greatest director's at the height of his powers make this a lesson in moviemaking.
The version Coppola himself cut for TV where he chronologises the first and second films into five parts also has has merit and can be a great way to discover arguably the two finest movies ever made especially if you don't fancy the three hours plus that each of the original films stand at.
tiggers.

Why is it that people just cant accept other peoples opinions on a given subject? Just because you rate film x over film x.2 everyone else has to agree.
And IIRC the question was regarding sequels so it doesnt make any difference if you think alien was better than aliens or t1 better than t2.

Sorry, but a poll of this type, that does not include The French Connection 2, is not worthy of my attention for long enough to register a vote.

Ted Maul - how's your brother Darth after his accident? I told Obi-wan he'd have someone's eye out if he wasn't careful...
