St Georges Day .. Should it be a public holiday ?
I know its a bit late now, but I was thinking about what others said on the issue of wether St Georges day should be a public holiday or not. I found a website that is petitioning the Govt to recognise St Georges day.
For it to be taken seriously it needs 30,000 petitioners.

Would that be along with St Andrews day, St Patricks Day, and every other denomination that now makes up the UK. If its a Saint then it is a religious christian holiday IMO. I would love to have all religious holidays off, but would assume that there must be about 150 - 200 possible holidays, e.g.
Agnostic, Buddhist, Islamic, Christian, Pagan, muslim, etc, etc.

I see what your saying, but wern't "Bank Holidays" supposed to be for banks & financial institutions ? but most people who dont work in finance related jobs would moan if they didnt get offered the day off or double time.

Of course, call me cynical, but the fact they're selling merchandise on that site isn't at all related to a free media-publicised vote which barely anyone is going to say "no" to (I mean, who'd refuse a holiday!).
How else would you get 157637 people to look at some awful white tops with red stripes
Hmm....wonder if I can setup a similar St Andrews site
