Yippeeee - New job
At last after a slightly longer-than-expected wait, I found out yesterday that I've secured a new position as an C#/ASP.NET developer at a company about 5 miles from where I live.
So it's taken a couple of years, but we've finally managed to get the dream we were aiming for: a small stone cottage right in the Scottish countryside, a decent, well-paid, and an interesting job with a commute of less than 15 minutes.

LOL. Won't be joining TN again, at least not for a while.
I'd never done C# before last weekend, but had to learn it in time for the 2nd interview. Luckily, in 2 days I learnt enough where the dev manager said it looked like I'd been coding it for a year or so.
2nd interview yesterday was a bit scary - I arrived at the office at 9am and was told "Here's a development machine. We want to you put together a simple eCommerce app with shopping trolley, product database, etc., written in C#/ASP.Net. You've got four hours.".
Unfortunately, until that precise point in time, I'd not actually done any ASP.Net at all.
Still, managed to cobble something together, and was offered the job in the afternoon.
Will be commuting to work on the bike, hopefully (not a DB7). Looks like I'll be needing a new bike though.

Nah. Might help out the odd day every now and again* at the weekend if they get bonkers or have major events. Other than that, as of the 1st of May my career as a bike mechanic will be fondly but firmly bade farewell, hopefully permanently. From there on in I'll most definitely be back to being a customer. Only downside is that now I'll have to pay for my cake & coffee after the rides...
*Obviously, now that I've got a job which might actually mean I can afford to get myself a new Rocky Mountain Slayer, I've got to keep my hand in so I can still claim a staff discount.

LOL. Peebles has ADSL now; I'm not sure quite how many 2Mb lines they have going into the building, but I'm sure there'll be enough bandwidth to go around.
Beef, don't worry, I won't steal custards. Wouldn't want to prevent Lee from getting his M3, eh?

MarkO
As I said this morning, fantastic news.
And in an entirely selfish mode, this means we might even get the chance to get out on the trails with you next time we're up. (BTW, Slayer? Pah; you want an S-Works instead .....24lbs all-up.)
And I presume Mrs MarkO can resume her life of leisure, shouls she choose to?

Well done!
My house is up for sale, I just sold the evo and I'm moving to Scotland as well.
I should be there in a couple of months, hopefully in a detached cottage near the sea and Mortgage free

Ha ha.
Yep, England is fecked up. A mate did it last year and doesn't regret it so my bags are packed and I have bought a ginger wig.
Will the last one out, turn off the light

LOL. Given the choice, slitting my wrists is much higher up my list of preferred choices than moving back down to the SE of England is.
Having said that, there are nice bits in England, but I'm comparing directly to the home counties....
