Goodwood Festival of Speed ?
Can anyone tell me if its worth going as just looked at the price if the tickets and its pretty expensive. Never been before and do quite fancy going as heard it gets good reviews and lots of exotic stuff there.
What is the Revival and is it worth paying extra for, and worth paying for a seat in the grandstand
PS June 25 / 26 / 27th. Ticket available on line only and no more pay on the door !

The Festival of Speed is a unique event and well worth it if you like cars (even if you don't like cars!) There really is everything there, from pre WW1 GP cars to half the current F1 grid, not to mention road cars, sports cars, motorcycles etc. A lot of it is really exotic stuff. Best of all, you can see, hear and smell it in the paddock with very little restriction and a lot of the original drivers, mechanics etc are involved. The event is an absolute gem and I only hope it isn't spoiled by over-popularity (perhaps I shouldn't be going on like this!). Highly recommended!

well worth going... to the festival of speed..
where else do you get the chance to go in the pits and actually speak to the drivers, have photos and not get the corporate bods shooing you off
went with my nipper last year, and he wanted some bike photos,
saw the brit superbikes and lined him up for a shot,, the next thing i know he was oiked over the armco plonked on the bike and Mr Rutter had his arm round him and autographs signed...
made his day...

Go go go ! ! !
If you're really into cars, go to this event - it's excellent.
Your ticket will allow you access to the paddock and you'll not only see some wanktastic cars but you'll see under the bonnet of some of them.
If the forecast is good, it's also a very pleasant way to spend a Sat / Sun with your loved one.
It's about 600 miles from me. I've only been to one, but I'll be going back as time allows.
One of my best memories was nipping on in the left lane of the motorway (I had an Evo 6 at the time) and seeing £100k Italian cars shooshing past.
Do it.
Cheers,
N

Great day out last year, and I didn't even see any runs, spent the whole day going round the sideshows and stands.
The exotica in the paddock is great and you get right up close (see pics), and the motorsport stuff there is fantastic for any sports fans. I'll be back again this year.

Very good although the last time I went there was a fatal accident 'up the hill' and the racing was cancelled for the rest of ther afternoon. Did a good 4x4 experience there too!

If you're not that bothered about who actually wins the hillclimb, then go on the Friday. Quite a bit cheaper when I went last year. Most events and attractions still available (normal disclaimers apply).
There were some good photo threads, but I can't find them now

Great event - been 5 times now - total petrolhead heaven
Haven't booked up this year, but I think i might have to now
We had grandstand seats last year, which were good, but I actually prefer to walk around. There is so much to see. I'll try and dig out a few photos aswell.
Chris
Edit to include: The Revival meeting is a separate event held at the Goodwood Circuit. It is basically a classic car race day. Never been myself, but it does look good - especially if you are into older cars.

I've been a couple of times - been a blast each time. wander about in the sun (hopefully), have a couple of beers, see some awesome machinery, find a good vantage point up the hill to watch the hill climbs. one or two drivers always give you a bit of sideways action.
top day out IMO.

A really good day out. Went a couple of years ago and it was all well untill a driver got killed in an accident. Apart from that it was an excellent day and realli worth it.
