Question Any Madchester Fans

My music collection has a bit of a blank for the early 90's in particular the Madchester scene. Looking to top up my collection can anyone suggest the best CD's (any compilations?) to go after, bands I'm keen to get the best stuff of are...

Inspiral Carpets (might see them in May)
Stone Roses
Happy Mondays
Charlatans

Kevin.

p.s. edit to say that it's not cause I'm too young it's just that I got a bit fecked off with the music scene with all that Jive Bunny 5hite and wasn't till early Oasis stuff that I got back into the music scene.

Just don't buy anything by Northside, and you'll be fine

With the Mondays, get "Pills & Thrills" and see if there's a compilation that has some of the Oakenfold mixes of earlier singles like "Wrote For Luck (Look to the future mix)"

Try some of Ride's stuff too -- especially "Leave Them All Behind". Top shoegazing action

At last a subject I'm expert on brought up on Scoobynet

The best compilation from that era was called Happy Daze. There may have been others brought out in the years after but Happy Daze caught the so called 'indie-dance' scene perfectly. This has the Paul Oakenfold produced Wrote For Luck 'Think About The Future' mix mentioned above. I prefer the Vince Clarke Remix myself

CD's to get are

Stone Roses - Stone Roses
Happy Mondays - Pills n Thrills
Inspiral Carpets - Life
Charlatans - Some Friendly
James - Gold Mother

I have loads of tunes from this era so if you get stuck finding anything give me a shout and I'm sure we can work something out

Oh yes, love all of it. Still listen to it all now.

I'm going to see Th Charlatans in June - I wouldn't name them as part of that scene, though.

They're not from Manchester and they lasted, and are far better now than they were when they started.

Mad for it! I like some of the Madchester stuff. The Unbelievable compilation CD is pretty good, also the 24 Hour Party People soundtrack is good, at least gives you a taster of some of the groups, thus you can then nab some of their albums
