I don't see the problem. It does get on my wick when you are opening the car up and they come up and start writing the ticket, but if you were 10 mins late then that's a fair cop if you ask me

Traffic wardens are just driving examiners, just the stuff on their shoe. Yet they have the same quoters to fill. They go hand in hand perfectly.

It's exactly the same, 50 quid for driving test and something similar for a parking 'offence', they all deserve a mighty good smack.

I don't think he said everyone else is wrong, merely that Examiners are similar to parking wardens. I don't agree as it's a matter of record that some wardens have quotas to fill.

Personally I reckon the examiners failed him for personal reasons of their own, not any quota system they might operate.

Chaos,

Explain yourself. How are these two the same. Totally different if you ask me.

Chip.

You were lucky we have had Vans towed by Westminster in less time than that.

Some london councils run very impressive bonus schemes for their wardens based on hitting quota's

like many companies who work in London we collect a fair number of tickets on meters where people over run frequently on work for said council. we can't park in NCP's as the vans are to tall. it is even more frustrating working for these councils to see how the system is rigged to make more money. the same way they are installing 24 hour bus lanes to reduce traffic capacity on the roads.

Best one i have seen this week is the reduction of a three lane junction by painting two cycle lanes and two vehicle lanes at the junction WTF one) cyclists don't stop at red lights in London they just jump them and expect you to swerve round them and two) they pay no road tax, fuel tax so how comes they get priorty?

If you don't want a ticket then do not park in restricted areas/zones, it ain't that difficult.

If you do park somewhere you shouldn't or your ticket runs out take the punishment.

I park illegally all the time and very rarely get a ticket, when I do I just take it on the chin as I was doing wrong.

Easier said than done in many areas of London. Westminster, as mentioned above has to be the most aggressive council for fleecing the motorist.

I used to live in the borough, in a restricted area (it all fooking is) and I'd watch the rats (wardens) checking their watches and hitting the cars with their pre-prepared tickets at a second past their 08:30 deadline time on a Monday morning.

And they have been given more powers to give you on the spot fines for driving in bus lanes now!

I hate it, there is no reasoning and they take the attitude as the law is the law and there is no exception. Used to work in the service dept for an A/C company sorting the air con offices/shops.

The amount of times I had hassel off wardens due to me having to park where I need (outside the shop/office if there is no rear/underground access) basically preventing me doing my job. What can I do? Park up a mile out and carry 1/2 ton of tools and spares...or make 10 trips to the van to get what I need - taking 20mins every time!

I did find a nice loophole - well for Brum anyway where the wardens can't ticket me if I parked fully on the pavement, as it was a different offence. They would radio to tow the van instead - I'd like to see them lift a fully loaded transit . And by the time the truck came round - about a few hours (unless I was unlucky) I was finished and gone

One irritation was the car parks geared their pricing around the 9-5ers so anything below 8 hours was very reasonable, but anything more than that it basically doubled The wardens knew that people would go for 8 hours and leg it to their cars after work and only be a few mins over...So the wardens would hover round the car parks just before 5:00pm noting all the cars that were about to expire so they could ticket them as soon as their time was up

I mean being ticketed for being a few mins over is disgusting IMO, they should be a minimum of 10mins allowance.

But if you're a minute over the ten minute you'd moan you were only a minute over LOL.
