Rowing Machine questions.........
Are there any out there worth having for under £100? There are some to be had for around £50 in Argos and Index, but are they worth the money?

www.concept2.co.uk machine is the dogs - got one myself.
A lot of money (about £900) but worth every penny.
I've used some expensive machines in gyms with fancy screens etc, and they never provided enough resistance. £50 machines won't have the inertia of the big flywheel that the C2 has. They won't be very sturdy.
Still, Argos have their 16 day money back guarantee, so why not just buy one and try one

Concept 2s are the best ones. Maybe a water-rower, but having tried one, I'd rather have the C2. £900 - might be worth it. There are quite a few older, second hand ones around though.
100 quid ones, I think, just aren't worth it, as they out you in all the wrong positions, and the readout isn't half as good as the more expensive ones.

I get the impression we don't like cheap rowers
Surely though, putting half an hour onto a £100 rower is gonna work your bits and pieces.............maybe not as good as a Concept, but effective on a cheaper scale?

will be wrong ergonomically, and probably do you more harm than good

A concept2 also doesn't depreciate that much. There's always a good market for 2nd hand ones, so if you buy one for £900, you'd only lose a few hundred by selling it on. You can also lease/rent them from Concept2 I believe?????

TBH, rowing on the Union Canal looks a right pain in the t*ts....hardly any room to get going, not much width, and too congested. Still, I should give it a try one day
