Question Where best to buy a new Rolex?

Been thinking about getting a Rolex for some time and finally have the cash, but most retailers want over the odds for a watch or make you join the back of the queue... anyone got any good ideas as to how to get one for a reasonable price over the counter?

As Yoza hasn't replied yet here's my 2p worth.

I got my Omega Seamaster Pro Chrono from AAtime.com in the UK and was happy with the price.

I was going to get one from the States but nobody would mail me to confirm the watches were 100% genuine.

Having said that i'm off to Vegas next month and may get something else as well

Which model are you looking for, and what do you expect to pay?

Prices are quite cleverly fixed, even if you buy abroad it will still work out close to the UK price.
Depends which model as to the availability, a stainless Daytona is almost impossible to find with a megga waiting list.
If its a more common type like a Sub or a GMTII then try phoning round as these models turn up to the shops almost unannounced.

Cheers guys, I wanted either a Sub with date or a GMTII, a real one and not a fake tho...

Yoza, list seems to be 2350 and some people are asking up to 2700! I'd prefer a disount off 2350 of course! ;-p

TelBoy, where in Hatton Gdns do you suggest?

Ian, yep know what you mean. also without actually holding the thing how can you really tell youve got what youve paid for?

i bought mine at the cayman islands and it was tax free so i saved £800 at the time, but i would consider the channel islands to be similar if they have a jewellers that stocks rolex cheaper to have a little holiday and buy your watch and still save cash, just came in handy for me as i was working in the cayman islands at the timei wanted a rolex

GMTII could be about £1700-£1800 in Hong Kong...I remember paying about £1300 for the GMT in a sale (four years ago...)
