Thumbs up House Extension Question

Are there any regulations about adding an extension to an exsisting extension ?
% of floor area for example ?
I am considering enlarging my kitchen into a kitchen / diner but this is already an extension to the original house.

Question

You can only extend the ORIGINAL house area by so much, IIRC, before you need both planning permission, and building regs.

Best to phone local council planning office, who are usually very friendly, and a fount of knowledge.
