I thought it was a tentative way of trying to bid up to the reserve price, then I remembered that his first bid met the reserve - god knows what the 2 subsequent bids are for...?

simple, alot of people on ebay are dumb! I recently advertised a property, first line read 'Please do not bid' and it said it again at the end in huge writing. What happened? auction finished with 12 bids!!! People trying to bid a tenner on a property worth over 120K yeah right, numpties!

What this is if your item starts at £10 they bid £30. £10 gos down as your first bid someone else bids £20 it auto bids £25 whitch is bid no2 someone bids £27 it auto bids£30. there clear as mud. now if someone say one of your freinds was to bid say £2 then my bet is you will boost your bid however i never do this as it is against ebay rules ps dont bid too mutch
