Default I am NOT a happy bunny!

Decided today was the day I would colourcode my sideskirts.. Put up sheets in the cellar, and went and purchased the necessary paints and laquer etc.

Went outside to remove my sideskirts - need to remove the wheels. Put the locking nut on first, came off fine. Then came the others. Wouldn't budge. Stood on the brace, moved very slightly. Carried on this way, it was clearly cross-threaded. It eventually snapped. No problem, only 1 of 5 - i'll get a new bolt.

Moved onto the next one. Same story, hardly moving. Tried another, same.

I had all 4 tyres changed 2 weeks ago. Seems they have crossthreaded most of the nuts on that hub - i haven't even tried the other wheels

Now i've gotta take a day off on Monday to go to the Subaru garage, and pay a shedload to fix it i expect.

Am i entitled to give the tyre place the bill for the repairs? What about the money I will lose for my day off??

go to the tyre place and get them to remove them.

if you get it sorted elsewhere then tell tyre ppl they may tell you to go jump!

The curse of the tyre gun....

I would always insist that a wheel brace is used... that way at least the fitter can feel the resistance of the going on.

Sidhead

Ring the manager of the tyre place and tell him that you are going to the garage and advise that he'd better be there to witness the problem!

If he wont then speak to either CAB or a Soliciter and get advice. You should have no probs in a small claims court ( last resort of course)

Thanks.

The other annoying thing is I wont be able to use the cellar again for at least a month because my dad will be using it to make my mom some cupboards grrr.

Been down to the tyre place. They managed to get all the other studs off ok - they were super-over tightened. This is what happens when you let the apprentice use the wheel gun !!

They are paying for me to take the car to my Subaru dealer this afternoon to have the hub removed and a new bolt/stud put on.
