Is it possible to just improve one part of your body through exercise? Everytime i 'diet' i get a very flat stomach and then about half a cm off the place i wanted to improve!

So is it possible through exercise alone?

It depends on you and what excercises you do.

Everyone's different. To get you body in proportion you have to do varied excercises over a decent period of time and keep it up so you don't go back to the way you were before.

No easy fix.

I would avoid exercising "just one" area of the body.

Take a balanced approach to both diet and exercise but with an emphasis on exercising the area you want to develop, e.g. legs, upper body, etc. etc.

Remember - too much is just as bad as not enough and don't expect results overnight

You can increase muscle in one place but not reduce fat

There's no relation between the Atkins thing and fitness.

Losing weight through excercise and proper eating - not dieting will make you feel so much better.

I always remember one girl complaining to me that every time she dieted she only lost weight from the two parts of her body that she DIDN'T want to get any smaller!

That would be her head and her right foot, I assume?

You have to be pretty light before there isn't any part of you that is a bit fat. I'm ~6', just under 12 stone and reasonably fit/well excercised, and have still got the remnants of a "spare tyre"/"love handles", they're just very small now.

I's say the answer is running at a slowish pace in order to burn fat. That's about 60% of what you would consider your top jogging speed. To give you an idea you should be able jog and hold a basic conversation.

I'd then say do some resistance training such as light weights to strengthen the muscles and tighten up the areas you are talking about.

Weapon,

I do spinning x2 a week - good fun once you get into it. I also do 2 mainly upper body workouts in the same week.

It all depends on your instructor and if you are up for having a bit of fun and working hard at the same time.

hope that helps!

spot fat reduction via exercise and/or diet? not possible, sorry.

u need to reduce your overall bodyfat - theres not a lot else u can do. the fat WILL come off.. u just need to reduce bodyfat enough.

there are products such as yohimburn which claim to reduce stubborn fat off of a specific area. the bb'ing community has varying views about this... but many who try it claim good results.
