I don't think it's a sial. But the RAC have launched a website that you can see the details of a car from it's number plate.

It won't tell you who owns the car, or where it is. But will say how many owners, and when the last change was etc.

Does anyone know of a number plate for a car that has been rewritten off or stolen? If so please try it on this RAC site as it would be interesting to know what it comes up with.

She part-ex'd it in for a Merc A-class at a garage in Oxford. We think it then went off to an auction and was sold to some pikey scum in London who hasn't re-registered it. So far it's been used to dodge the congestion charge and as a getaway car in an armed robbery.
I'd be surprised if it's still on the road now, she hasn't had any visits from the Met lately.

Assuming that if the number doesn't come up the car has been written off - all but one of my previous cars (and I've had a few) are dead !!

Arrgghh 
My '84 POLO still exists!!
It was mashed up by a vectra Gsi Taxi that rear ended it at 40mph. Damn DVLA was supposed to write it off as scrap [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
Probably still has me as the owner too
My XR3i 130 Doesn't exist on that plate anymore

Just found the personal plate that used to be on the Alfa 33 that I owned and wrote off is on a white Ford Transit Van.
Though the plate got destroyed when the car was written off

Well, it's got my private plate on the VX220 Turbo I had in Oct 03, but it's obviously slow at being updated as i've had my plate on two more cars since then
