Anyone familiar with the Sony STR-DB790 AV receiver?
I was just wondering about connecting a sub woofer... does this need an active or passive subwoofer? I know what the difference is, but the manual doesn't state whether the sub output is amplified or not.
Anyone on here know???

Active sub needed.
Difference is that one has onboard amplification ( active) and one doesnt (passive).

cheers spooks... I had susses what the active/passive thing was, but had no idea what the sub output on mine was...
Now I know and can go hunting on e-bay & various other sites
