The best beer?
#1
The Bass at our local is top notch. The landlord always has 2 guest ales in at any one time. Some are lush, and some ming.
What is everyone's best / worst beer?
I'll start the bidding at:
Best ----> Bass
Worst ---> Mr Perretts

when I were a lad, the landlord of my local used to throw all bitter&mild slops into the ruddles, I know, I used to carry them downstairs for him.
His excuse was that he couldn't raise the SG of the normal beers

At least becks is still actually brewed in the country of origin (and therefore in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot), unlike lots of other bland, insipid lagers consumed largely by dolts with dead tastebuds. It's still pretty lowest common denominator stuff though.

I rarely have Becks these days because the price of bottles of it are ludicrous in comparison to a pint. However, draught Becks... Mmmm
Anyway Telboy - surely being a southern ponce, you're on the shandy?

Czech Budwar is ok.
In fact, Bud from a can i can drink too. But not when it's in a bottle - seems to taste worse, whereas bottles for most beers improve their taste. Weird.

Agreed again (this is becoming a bad habit) canned beers taste tainted, I only ever buy bottled beer.
As well as that the Czech Budvar is amongst the best "lager" style beers you can get on draught. Also widely available in the UK is Staropramen another fine Czech beer

Strange place to keep all your old O-Level exam papers.
Becks is about the most common and hence most favoured of the lagers I consume... like San Miguel. But I usually find that most local lagers across Europe, in whatever scummy cities I visit, are palatable.

Some people on here with good taste!
Lager - Defo Budvar, Staropramen (in this country, in Czech Rep its not as good bizarrely) also big fan of Carlsberg Export for some bizarre reason!!!
Beer - don't really drink, but stuff from the Hogs Back Brewery is spot on! Eg TEA, Hop Garden Gold etc
