I was stopped last night in my friends Skyline R33 GTR (driving it). My average speed was noted at 120mph. Thats what the policeman said anyhow.
He gave me a white little slip that looks like its a producer, not sure what to expect now. There is no video footage of me doing the speed and it was reading on a digital display inside the car fixed to the dash board.
What will happen now, i've read the white slip and hes ticked the check docs box on it.
I'm obviously very concerned as if i loose my license the scooby will go.
Any comments welcome, and yes i do know i've been a very very silly person, been driving 8 years with a clean license up till now. Wont be doing that again i can tell you!
Cheers
Gavin

Did he say he was going to report you for speeding ?
NIP could have been given verbally, so no need to make you produce documents then send a NIP.
May just be the producer, but i doubt it at 120.

As he documented the offence it sounds like you're now "in the system", so expect to be prosecuted for speeding. The penalties ramp up for each 10mph over the limit. Assuming it was a 70mph limit,
90-99mph = 3 to 6 point plus fine
100-109mph = discretionary ban of 2 - 4 weeks (usually exercised) or 6 points plus fine
110-120 = automatic ban of 4 to 8 weeks plus fine
120-130 = automatic ban (my guess is no less than 12 weeks) plus fine
If it was a 60 mph limit, expect a lengthier ban again, maybe 6 months.

If you were cautioned then you've probably not heard the last of it. They don't have to give you a written NIP (Notice Of Intended Prosecution). I just got a verbal one and then a Court Summons five months later. I also got a producer.

You weren't so concerned doing 120mph before you were caught so tough **** is all I can say.
Who's a naughty boy then?
Sad how people want help and sympathy when they break the law.
Don't get me wrong. I'll go too quick at times but I don't whine when I get caught. I knew what I was doing at the time. If I didn't I shouldn't have been behind the wheel.
Boo hoo.

Yes i was cautioned!
If the officer mentioned an average speed and you saw it on a display in the car, there's little doubt that you've been caught on a time over distance measuring device like Vascar.
Afraid you can expect a summons through your letterbox, although it's probably not worth holding your breath. The caution you received serves as a verbal NIP, so from this point they can wait up to 12 months before serving you the summons, although in practice it's unlikely to take that long.
Incidentally, does your own insurance policy give you legal requirement insurance cover while in another car, or did your friend's policy cover you to drive it?

This may help. My mate was telling me about a book advertised in the sunday papers, something like "The book the police don't want you to have". Apparently it is written by an x traffic cop. All the loop holes of how to get out of speeding. One example I was told, if you are stopped for speeding and go to court you can ask for the test records of the machine which recorded your speeding, they reacon these machines have to be tested and callibrated everyday, which they have a print out of, obviously if the machine has not been tested that day, there will be no print out to varify the machine working correctly, therefore no evidence. This may not be right, it's what I have been told. Maybe worth looking into?

The Vascar does indeed have to be calibrated at the beginning and end of each shift, and there's nothing wrong with making certain the policeman concerned followed the correct procedure.
However, if you've been done for 120mph, it may be preferable to plead guilty, take your lumps and attempt to get the sentence committed down to points and a fine rather than a ban.
Still, all this discussion is premature in the extreme. The time to be talking about this is if/when the OP has a summons in his lap, not now...

Think Gavin would need a little more than a good blow job to take his mind off this one.

Thanks for the nice comments from most people!
As for dosenöffner, lol, people like you need not be here m8. Simple as really. No need for abusive posts. I will take this on the chin as i accept responsibility for my actions. As for whining you really do sound like a whiner so why not say nothing if you have nothing but bad things to say!
I may get banned and if i do i'll do as some have said, take the time to tinker with the car and make minor alterations to power using the money i save in fuel bills lol!!
Cheers all except dosenöffner (hehe)
