'You can't soar like an Eagle, yeah, if you're flying with turkeys'

C'mon, who does that remind you of?

I thought he generally had the right idea though, the staff at the car places were completely un-motivated and unhelpful. Although they were obviously quite successful I reckon they could be a lot more so with a bit of enthusiasm.

PMSL at the sly digs at the end though

The estate agent was a cracking chap, full of motivation.

The car dealers were a bunch of wasters.

The car dealer, bless him, was completely out of his depth.

They said the car sales for the time that the estate agent guy was in management was the lowest on record. So really enthusiasm isn’t the be all and end all of sales having a product that’s appealing to the customer sells units, and that car supermarket did just that, as the guy said the price the cars were they sold them selves.

Saying that though the other guy did an equally **** job of managing the estate agents.

Each to his own game, they both didn’t have a clue what they were doing.

Tim- Cráp, the estate agent wasn't allowed to do anything he suggested, his enthusiam was wasted on wasters.

The car dealer was well outdated.

A week proves nothing Tim. Give it a month or 3 and see how the figures would have been then.

Yeah everyone would have probably left by then, those people might not have been the most lively bunch in the world but they could sell cars. And if there’s something that experienced sale’s staff hate is being told how to do their own job, and to be honest monkeys could sell cars in a car supermarket so really all the motivation in the world would only make minimal difference in turnover but would maybe make a big difference in staff turnover. Fare enough staff do need targets but driving them to do things that really anyone can see wont make much difference will pi55 them off and unhappy staff are unproductive staff.

Slobbish staff won't respond to anything, that's the point.

Swop teams totally and there would have been more cars sold and less houses sold.

Hmmm debateable, granted there probably would have been less houses sold but as I said before in those car supermarkets I cant see that there would be much improvement because the cars sell them selves if their cheap.

If there’s something I cant stand is a big bouncy in your face sales man who just tries to sell you anything in sight, it just makes me more determined to walk away even if they do have what I want. I think a more effective sales pitch is the subtle approach, friendly and helpful but not in your face and following your every step.

Put it this way, I would rather put the yuppie in charge of my business than the nouveau Arthur Dailey.

And I would rather have worked in the office with the yuppies missus than that Smithers type bloke Stuart.

Remember that documentary that was on late last year “The Real Swiss Tony”, it was about a high pressure boss and his team of slimy crafty sales gimps. I have actually been to that garage it’s only a few miles from me. The minute I stepped in the door they were all over me like a rash trying to take my name and address and attempting to sell me the first car I stood next too with out even asking what I was interested in and what my budget was. Needless to say it has gone bust and closed down now, probably because the brief time I was there 9 out of 10 people who had the misfortune to end up in there left in disgust at the sales tactics. It really was beyond belief what they were resorting too to get a sale, it was like seeing vultures picking over a carcass of a dead zebra they really were that desperate.
