What a complete load of b***ocks.

I'm PAYE with no savings account or other investments (I have a current mortage account) and I've just spent 5 minutes filling a self assessment form. This form will now be processed and waste 10 minutes of someone else's time.

The only info I've put in the form is the information the Inland Revenue give me on the P60 and additional contact info along with my signature - the same as I did for 2000, 2001 & 2002 tax years.

Why?

You have to fill the form out else you get a £100 fine for starters.

As for the form there only two sections for me, the employment form and name/address part of the main assessment.

I have no investments, student loans, kids, nor savings as I have a combined mortgage/current account.

I don't mind the effort its the poor buggers on the other end (including the postie) that get thousands of these forms to deal with.

My father's PAYE. To his annoyance, he too received a Tax Return to fill in.

Begrudgingly, he's filled it in online......

AND found out that they owe him money!!!!

So, the moral of the story is, fill it in anyways, you may be entitled to a rebate.....

Dan (doing mine tonite!!!)
