Shaved head
#1
I am thinking about shaving my head - I mean, literally shaving it. No grade 1 or any of that. Get the Mach 3 out etc..
Are there any side effects to doing this? Will my hair grow back OK?!
I have a full head of hair so it's not like I am trying to do a cover up or anything; I just fancy the look.
If anyone here has done it, I'd like to hear about your experiences.
Thanks.

I've always had short hair but decided one day to shave it off. Went for the Bic approach, in short it was a nightmare. I would probably recommend getting someone to help for the first time, I managed to take plenty of chunks out of my scalp and it was sore as hell for a few days after. Be careful out there!!!

I'm going through my hippy stage at the moment, but have shaved it, it grows back fine just get a decent razor and someone you trust to do it, keeping it once it's done is easy unless you've got a stupid shaped head like me

I shave mine bald about once a month and find the best way to do it is ,firstly using clippers with no attatchments and then finishing it off with an old electric shaver.
you'll probably find the first time its a little sore, just use moisturiser
and if anyone was wondering, I do use shampoo even with a bald head..
dunno why though

I did the same before I went travelling a few years ago as I thought it would be more hygenic. It was easy to maintain (ie NO maintenance!) and there was the added advantage of girls wanting to "give it a stroke".
Just mind you don't pass out with a sunburnt head the first time you venture out (as I obviously did not do, and most certainly did not whimper like a 4 year old girl for a week afterwards with a lovely peeling head....)

Id recommend getting some clippers and working your way down throgh the grades. Say a 4 the first time, a 2 then a 1 then no attachment then full on Bic.
You might find you hate it. And in the winter you can get headaches from the cold. Wear a Beanie

rr_ww,
I thought about working my way down too - perhaps that's the best approach to start with.
The other thing is that I have a small half inch scar on my head which is obviously covered up at the moment, but with a grade 1 will really show (obviously no hair grows through the scar). It'd probably show less with a Bic-Head..?

i acidentally shaved my hair without a guard on the clippers a couple of months ago, i'm now known as uncle egg .
i normally have a no.2 all over and it was a real difference with the bare clippers so if i were you i'd give that a try first.
total slaphead is a bit 'right said fred' for me personally and if you've got a wonky shaped head you could look a right plank, give the bare clippers a go first,it'll give you an idea at least.
happy shaving

I do it myself, it's pretty easy. Just make sure you have clipped it right down first, and use plenty of a good moisturising foam.

Calling DrEvil, come in DrEvil. Alex (DrEvil) has, or did the last ooh many times I've seen him have his head shaved, so hopefully he'll pop up and comment.
I did have, until tues night, have a bit of a mullet going on, as the g/f was into that, but since I'm now single again, I've gone back to the short look, which is basically a grade 3 effect (grade 2 or lower is just to short for sub -15C temps brrrrr) and I like it. Tis weird some girls like it short, some like it long, me, I like it short.
Don't think I could do the skinhead look, as I would look like a proper madness fan and I'd need to get the boots, braces and union jack t-shirt too though I might do that for the summer. Got to be careful in a suit though, look like a doorman
