I thought it was a very interesting 'Clarkson' angle on the subject. I enjoyed it, but then I'm a fan.
"i think you will find he was dead, he was shot as soon as they started to go over the top."
As we all have, I've grown up with 'that' going over the top shot.(no pun intended ). I always understood that it was staged footage for the news reels rather than a real film. I suspect that in reality they *all* would have keeled over.

The sound of that Metal Storm system was awsome! I want one! It would go down a treat at my local clay shoot

pinched from another thread, but if case you missed it, this sums up the modern day gun :
Warning : bit nasty, but brings it home so to speak.
Link removed by Moderator (sasim), because I think it may be inappropriate for a public BBS, some people may find it shocking and disturbing. If you think I overreacted please post in policy and we can discuss it.
notice the target hot-foot it when the shooting starts - then check his mannerisms to his colleague when the apache misses, its like " those stupid yanks can't hit us" - then his mate walks away witout a care - suppose it was quick
..back to the original topic though, I thought JC is the ideal man for this sort of stuff, when he had the vest on I hoped he was going to be shot at and demonstarte the flak jacket to us - never mind.

I love Clarksons dumbed down programs- it's like reading the daily mail's political analysis. Real lowest common denominator stuff, I enjoyed it.

It was quite interesting the way he had to be careful loading the magazine into the SA80. Who the f**k is going to take their time carefully reloading their weapon when they've got acountry full of people trying to kill them. No wonder they don't like it.
ALso the hold-up in the US was interesting, 200 million guns in the hands of trigger-happy rednecks and we told to be scared of arabs
Me and the lad are going to have a go at the spud gun this weekend though

Probably because they are too easy to break! Having fired one I can confirm that they are prone to stoppages, in addition a weak ejector dropped a few red hot cartridge cases down my sleeve during a rapid fire competition. Horrible weapon IMO.

When you compare an SA80 to an AK47 (the toyota pickup of the gun world) it seems to be change for changes sake. All a squaddie needs is something to point at the enemy that he knows is going to work when he pulls the trigger.

stu,
I didn't post the link as "entertainment" as you put it, this thread after all is discussing a programme about guns. IMO, the clip demonstrates how far modern weapons have advanced, I am interested in this topic, and I would have thought that anyone viewing the thread would also be.
FYI, "ogrish" clips don't do it for me, the clip I posted is war footage.
And if you read my post you would have seen that I "borrowed" it from another thread, why not pop over there and roll your eyes.
Gravel, the link to the clip is in the other thread.

You have your (wrong) point of view and I have the perfectly correct and decent one - I don't think the world will fail to revolve if we disagree ...

But that is how I perceived it, and on that basis RTM'd it.
