I've just been away for 2 weeks and come back to find my next door neighbour got burgled last week. Luckily they were spotted by another neigbour and they ran off before they got away with too much. Both these neigbours knew we were away, so they took the time out to check we hadn't been broken into and then kept an eye on the property until we got back and even put a couple of padlocks on our back gates to beef up the security.
In return, I now have my next door neighbours shed contents in my garage as the theives got away with all his spare keys and I've agreed he can keep his motorbike and his sons TTR125 in there until he builds himself a more substantial structure.
Thought I'd point out that there are good people out there and that community spirit is still around.

I find this confusing, you wake them up whenever you go out early, or arrive home late. In that thumping Subaru of yours.
You like your powerful home audio centers.
And they look after your house when your away.
PS. Did you have a nice break?
I would have loved to escape to the sun, oh the joys of being 'inbetween' jobs.

Now I'm generally about as sociable as a horny dog in a Miss. Lovely Legs competition, but even I have to agree that I have nice neighbours. I too love my Home Cinema and my Blitz NUR Spec, yet have no neighbour probs. It's all about give and take - I'm in a semi so I only have one direct neighbour, he too loves his home cinema, loves revving his petrol chainsaw on a Sunday and we get on ok - even though he has a young family.
I know some neighbours are just ar*eholes with no option of improvement, but some are ok !
Even my neighbours on the detached side are ok, and I don't like 'em !!!
Cheers

Good to hear!
We have a great set of neighbours and indeed street.
Every year for the past 5 years us and out friends from the house opposite invite the entire street round for a BBQ and its been great. Typically there are around 100 people who come and it really brings us together as a community. This year was great, they came round at 1pm and did'nt leave until midnight. Total cost to us was 60 quid.
