Update on the stolen Eclipse

I got an email from Shane today thanking everyone with a few links attached :-
Todays Independant Newspaper
and
Scunthorpe Telegraph - TWOCer in court
As always the papers have got certain facts in a muddle, but the jist of the reporting is that people who drive fast cars aren't all trying to kill everyone!!!! Shame GTOUK didn't get mentioned in the story, seems they must think I own a Scooby . Ah well, ScoobyNet gets a decent mention for you!
I'll post more up when I get it. Keep your eyes peeled on the local news up here though, as Look North and possibly Calendar are looking to run the story, and the Sun newspaper have shown an interrest.

He revealed the thief was even cheeky enough to show off the Mitsubishi, one of only 60 in the UK, at meetings of illegal racers.

Quote from the Independent -
"One of his friends hoped the ScoobyNet site, for fans of the Subaru Imprezza, or "scooby", would help."
Impreza obviously isn't in the spellcheck

Yeah, LMAO at the comparisons!
The front bumper is virtually knackered, partly from the TWOCer hitting curbs, and mostly from the recovery company towing it onto the truck ramp (it's tooooo low you know!). Shane's getting a replica Veilside bodykit made for the car by a local fibreglass company, and whilst they're at it they're looking into a full fibreglass ICE install in the back.
The interior was fairly clean, but Shane wants to remove all the standard interior (every time he gets in it reminds him that a dirty thieving s**t was sat in it). Looks like the rear seats are going completely to make way for the above ICE install and the NOS bottle. Front will have race seats. Full car polished roll cage is on the cards too.
A few of the stickers were removed, and some extra ones were put on by a spray bay where the thief took it for a quote on a F&F2 spider Eclipse paint job. Total was £5000 for the paintwork, so they are talking to Shane about sponsorship and a discounted holographic paintjob. Amazing what happens when you phone them up and say - "I can either give you really bad press, or really good press"!!! The spray bay also polished the car to a mirror finish to get photos for their records. All this whilst it was still stolen!
The Sony CD player, all speakers, subs and amps were removed, so a whole new install is planned including the Alpine in dash screen that's sat at home with a new DVD player.
One of the alloys is curbed, but Shane wants to up these to 19" minimum, and my GTO should take his reconned 18s for the right price!!!
The engine feels faster than it did before (probably been loosened off considerably). It needed 3 ltrs of oil adding when he picked it up. It had covered 6000 miles in 40 hrs. The full extent of engine damage will be known tomorrow when I get the car in my garage. We expect the minimum to be a clutch and major service, the maximum to be big end bearings, piston rings and head recon. Then the plans are to fit a huge turbo, injectors and fuel controller, then work up from there.

"The Eclipse had been seen in Dumfries but then a cruiser saw a man sitting in it outside a burger bar in Carlisle at 7pm on Tuesday. The cruiser was driving a slower car, a Citroen Saxo."

Hmmnn, yeah the maths work out to that!!!!
The car was actually in the thieves grubby mits for 79 hours, which still works out over 70MPH average speed, then take of sleeping and eating and he was motoring fast everywhere.
Think I need to have a quiet word with Shane!!!!
