The Polically Correct BBC have axed Kilroy with immediate effect for 'telling it like it is' in his recent Sunday Express newspaper column:
The BBC presenter Robert Kilroy-Silk is facing a police investigation over a newspaper column in which he expressed scathing views about Arabs.
Trevor Phillips, the chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality came out with - "Given the extreme and violent terms in which Mr Kilroy-Silk has expressed himself, there is a danger that this might incite some individuals to act against someone who they think is an Arab." He went on, "We are referring the article to the police to consider whether it might constitute an offence under the Public Order Act."
Bloody ridiculous statement.
Why can't he express his views.[img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
And the henious crime is? Well, he wrote this:
"Apart from oil - which was discovered, is produced and is paid for by the west - what do they contribute?
"Can you think of anything? Anything really useful? Anything really valuable? Something we really need, could not do without? No, nor can I."
No worse than something Clarkson might come out with, or view regularily expressed on here IMO. What is this country coming to?

You've completely missed my point. Although, in another way, you've made it for me.
Whether I agree with his views or not is not the issue here. The issue is the 'PC Brigade,s' misuse of of their powers to censor views that contradict their own. Something that happens to be very topical ATM.

I can't really blame him for saying that. His ratings have been slipping for ages and its kinda hard to find audience for his show. He's got to do something to get his ratings. Its either being a racist pr*ck or self DIY sex change. I know what I'd do..

disagree unclebuck,why has this got anything to do with the BBC being politically correct? What Kilroy has said is totally unacceptable,and EVERY employer would have suspended an employee for saying such things.I certainly would.

Whether or not I agree with Kilroy, the point is that the BBC has to suspend the programme, they have to appear impartial, if they did nothing then it could be seen that they support his viewpoints and you can imagine the problems that would cause for the BBC.

Having lived and served in Israel during the early 80s my overall experience of arabs was not good and i think most people in europe would struggle to understand their mindset i would ask the question which country or people would have been better to have had oil?

It's inaccurate as it's a massive generalisation.
The Arab race covers a wide spectrum of people, from the more liberal states of Egypt and Jordan to the evil of Saudi Arabia (which the West chooses to support).
It's like saying all BMW drivers are w@nkers and all Scooby drivers are baseball cap wearing right-wing biggots. Clearly not true.

people seem to forget that people are still attacked and killed because of their race. Waht Kilroy wrote could possibly incite more of this. That's why there is a law preventing incitement of racial hatred, and IMO Kilroy has broken this law.
