Keep seeing these Halogen heaters advertised lately. I have been thinking about getting one for the outside office. The best I can find so far is `buy 1 get 1 free` at £49.99....2 heat settings of 800w and 1200w.....
Does anyone have one and are they a good buy please?????
Joan.

from the limited experience I have had of them (visiting family)
They seem good for close / direct heating but dont seem to take the chill of a room that well.

My friend bought one a while ago to add some extra heating to her house. They work well and seem a good buy, running costs are cheap (around 6p/kW/hr). This one gets hot rapidly and provides a good extra source of heat, plus it has a safety switch which instantly turns off the heater - should get pushed over.
Check out www.heateasy.com for further info on running costs etc, its an outlet near me, but it should give you some useful info.

Coincidence Joan as I have been thinking on similar lines for a conservatory which I use as an office. Just to keep chill out in morning and to reduce dampness. Keep seeing them in Mail and Telegraph and then throwing out papers! Think I will get one with in-built timer as well as you need to be a bit careful how much power you put through one of those plug-in socket timers (so I am told). My local shop had one at £19.99 but it looked like £19.99 and no timer. Will see what this thread throws up. David

Found this deal on :

Seems a good buy but not sure about the heat bit, does it just get hotter then automatically turn off when it reaches a certain temperature or does it just get hotter until you turn it down????
Sorry to ask stupid questions but I am no good at all these electrical things!!!!
Ta....Joan.

I saw one today in Wilts electrical wholesalers, with remote control for £30 plus the dreaded vat. Also Edmondson electrical have the for around the £30 mark.
