Just a thought as a sideline to the other thread that is running at the moment about property development.
Can you get a mortgage from a British lender and then buy somewhere abroad?
If so are the interest rates better (hahahah, yea likely story) here than a foreign lender.
Would a Foreign lender give a British Resident a mortgage on a property within it's own country boundaries??

yes you can get a mortgage here to buy a property abroad. A colleague of mine has done just that. She has mortgaged here and had her place built in Spain.
Just make sure that you get a lender prepared to speak to foreign companies. I'm not sure who she went with, to be honest and she's on holiday in Spain (cunningly enough) until the 12th.
