Hi, I could do with a bit of advice on my toyota 4x4 and thought you people may be able to help.

It is a 92 Jap Import and I am first UK owner, it was sold to me with 12 month MOT but I have noticed it has no rear foglight. I am a bit pi$$ed about this as it is going to cost me a bit to put one on, as presumably it is going to fail when I have it re done?

I was thinking of ringing the people who did the MOT and threatening legal action/speaking to the Ministry of Transport to see if I can scare them into doing it.

Has anyone got any advice which may help me? Do they have a responsibility to fit a fog light?

Thanks peeps

James

If you bought it with a UK MOT it should have one.

You can always take it to the garage that passed it and 'chat' with them.

You sure it def doesn't have one as I had an MR2 T that failed its MOT 'cos of this only for me to find it did have one - the switch was just hidden away.

JSW, you will get nowhere with the MOT people, as it only has to have a rear fog light at the time of MOT.

Its their word against yours.

They can say it had one at the time,m there is no proof it didn't!

Fog light are about £5 from halfords, go and treat yourself...

all the best

But reporting them gets you noticed. I did just that and got my MOT, as I had proof of the lamp being fitted.

Any hint of a vist from the inspectorate and they become more helpful.

Failing that they are cheap to buy and very easy to fit

It has been known that some not so good importers just have an MOT/SVA kit to obtain the relevant paperwork and install them from car to car as and when required. When it comes to selling, the cars are sometimes put back as they came over on the container ship eg without fog light, mph clocks etc.
