Residential areas to avoid in Tyne & Wear
#6
Blythe: Once quoted at the Methadone capital of the north. I would avoid this place like the plague.
Wallsend: Not that bad but you can get better.
Sunderland: No idea?
Have you tried looking at Jesmond, and more towards the cost like Whitley bay.

try Durham, we have one of the lowest car crime areas in the uk.
also no static speed cameras in the whole of co Durham, only 2 mobile vans......and some pretty good roads too
not to mention the best scooby club in the country too

Well, I used to live in Blyth, and whilst it does have the drugs reputation, I think most areas all have a bad spot.
There are some nice estates out side of Blyth town centre to the South, the south beach area where there are new house still being built, and the property prices are very high. There are also plans to extend the metro system to Blyth, which will mean an instant property price rise due to the better access to Newcastle town Centre.
You could also try Cramlington which is just 4 miles from Blyth - a little more expensive, but it all depends on how much you want to spend on a house, and where you will be working.
Either of the 2 are well serviced by public transport, close to the beach, and the countryside, plenty of supermarkets and other shops, and close to Newcastle (Cramlington is 10 miles, and Blyth is about 14 miles).

my birds dad lives in blyth (south beach)
i wouldnt have that many nitemares about parking my scooby in blyth
i know of a lot of nice cars that are parked in blyth, and mine is parked in south beach quite a bit when i stop over, or next to the broadway when crashing at my mates (although its blocked in with 2 other cars lol)
a few of my mates live there and the odd one or 2 has a impreza and i know of the odd skyline and concourse escort cossie/ rs turbo etc etc
wallsend on the other hand would be a bit "iffy"
i was brought up in howdon which is now like a fooken bosnian war torn city (was actualy there tonite getting lashed ) and is right next to wallsend, i know my fair share of "dodgy" people from wallsend and i know exactly what they get up to, so i regret to leave the car parked there for any legnth of time, these sort of places really are "if you know the lads they respect you and leave you alone" which is good for me, but a unknown person is a bit fooked really.
as the lad said above tho, its ok if you now the right people, basiacly i grew up in a ****hole, got intol all the trouble a regular person from them areas gets into and im "respected" in those areas, which might sound daft, but the "dodgys" wont touch a car if the owner "is one of the lads" so to speak, mine is parked right smack bang in the middle of howden every other wed night and in my opinion, it will not be touched
dont know about sunderland, i treat it like any unknown place when im forced to park there (paranoid and ready to strike)
it totaly depends on where your thinking of going to
blyth isnt as bad as the press and such make out
its probably just glamorised a touch for the papers
where were you thinking of visiting?
north sheilds is a bit "iffy" but saying as half my family come from there im sorted lol
Royal Quays is really really nice
dont tell anybody but i leave my car parked unlocked most of the day with the windows open (in the summer )
no trouble at all there

If you are buy to letting, then jesmond or gosforth, nearer the offy and the metro station the better, student letting is hassle but there is lots of money in it.
Alternatively consider holiday letting in the tyne valley, or a nice easy option would be medium/long term lets for posh beggars in the commuter belt, Riding mill/Corbridge/Heddon/Throckley, high rents in these areas (but high property prices also).
