I think that if you have fully comp ins then your covered for 3rd pty cover in europe. If you want fully comp cover then you have to get a green card, which my ins comp (direct line) charges for. However, I would check with your ins co. just incase I'm talking poo

Some insurance companies include a green card in their comprehensive policy docs - i.e. your insurance docs also double as a green card (as opposed to you needing a separate one). Check with your insurers though.

You don't need a green card, but you do need a bail bond if driving in Spain.

news to me pete? My green card covered everything i needed insurance wise in spain.

It's law that your UK insurance is valid as far as 3rd party cover is concerned throughout europe, however some policies wont cover you for the comprehensive cover parts of your policy unless you ask for a green card.

So you can drive in europe without a green card and are legally covered for the minimum EU requirements, but if it were stolen or damaged without a green card you may not be insured against that with some companies. So ask your insurance company.
