you are not alone!
Tip: roll up the present in wrapping paper, then twist each end into a kind of cracker - job done! Works for all shapes of present too!

I can't wrap up that well, and really dislike doing it, as if I'm doing it I want to make a good job of it, and I can't. Tis why I usually pay the little extra to get a shop to do it. however, there are some things I will wrap, as it does add a little loving touch <cue the puking due to the mush >

We did a 'Secret Santa' thing in our office. When the recipient of my gift was unwrapping it, two or three girls in the office all said (pretty much simultaneously), "I bet that one was wrapped by a bloke". Sigh... yeah, apparently it is a bloke thing.

I was forced to learn how to wrap presents properly by my girlfriend who was sick of getting the same shoddy wrapping from me for years. The secret is in getting the corners. Once the main bits done, turn to your first end and push the middle of one side of paper so that it is flat with the sides of the box, then do the other side this will give you 2 neat triangles, one a t the top, one at the bottom. Once you have 2 triangles. fold the bottom one to the middle and put it flat against the prezzie then fold the other triangle on top of that to make it look pretty (does this make sense?!?) Voila, perfect corners. I should add pics but I cant be arsed.

Neil, ooh, nice idea, bit sadistic though, but I like it.
My fave was to smile sweetly and then when asked "where is my present?" hand over an envelope with money or gift vouchers in and then say "it's in the shop!"

Im ok but hate wrapping anything like cuddly toys or bottles. Even straight square stuff my edges never seem to be neat. Cheated a bit this year and made little boxes to a) disguise shape and b) make em easier to wrap
