The company I work for is lowering the mileage rate for business mileage from 42.5p to 30p.

I refused as I do about 20k miles a year, and drive "spiritedly" so the running costs are high on this amount (non Scoob).

I asked for a company car and they have given me a lease amount of £375. (plus and extra £150 personal fuel allowance).

anybody leased a car for around the same amount and what did you go for. I can opt out and take cash of £410 but will get taxed at 40% for that.

Oops just to paint the clear picture....

Its on a 2.5 yr lease will full maintenance and relief vehicles policy.

Wont have it much longer thank god, Leon Cupra R on the way (same policy, 458 per month - its an 18k car).

on a 36month maintained not a great deal by the looks of things.

Just found out it has to be a Audi, BMW, Merc, Peugeot, Ford or VW as its company policy.

I have the wrx as a weekend plaything so want this to be as cheap as possible for me tax wise, was thinking about a Tavia RS but no Skoda's by the look of things.

New golf is out in Feb so might have a look at a TD GTI, but dont know if i could force myself to have a diesel.

If tax is a real concern, I would have a look at a Seat Leon Cupra R diesel. It uses the same 150 bhp diesel engine as the Golf. You should be albe to swing it, as Seat are part of the VW group (we've got a similar policy and a few people run Seat's).

Not for a moment suggesting that you do this without telling your company, but, they are easily chipped to around 190 bhp and roughly 300 ft lbs torque .

Been thinking about something like this for myself if I decide to opt in again next year.

Just to add Deloitte & Touche have a very good website called Cartax. This will help you calculate your tax liability.

Just came across this link.

www.new-car-leasing.com

How about a BMW 2.2 Z4 from only £317+ VAT a month on an 18 month business users deal? Or a Toyota Land Cruiser D4D LC2 5 Dr from only £259 + VAT a month 18 month business users deal. Or a Porsche Boxster 2.7 only £387 + VAT a month 18 month business users deal.
